The Illinois State Police identified Jonah Matthews of Waterloo, Illinois as the young man who died in a tragic accident when the equipment he was driving collided with a train in downtown Fults. Matthews was 23-year-old hired hand following his passion for agriculture by working at a local farm. Like many other farmers dealing with this wet spring, Jonah was trying to finish up planting in the bottoms before the next big rain when the accident occurred around 8 p.m. on Friday evening.

Yes, there is power to be unlocked by extracting the dB killer baffle in the slip-on (there are YouTube videos demonstrating how), but as I said before, I don’t believe in overly loud pipes on the street. Personally, the sound is so pleasurable that I don’t begrudge the minimal power loss – too much. (Don’t worry, I’m already working on finding more streetable power from future updates.) Let’s not forget that the weight savings is 29% versus stock, which helps to offset the power loss a little. 

Jackson: Persistent flooding across wildlife management areas has decimated some wildlife habitats and food supplies, leading the state to allow supplemental deer feeding in Issaquena and Warren counties. The executive director of the state Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks says the deer stuck on a flooded levee have depleted their resources. Russ Walsh says the stressed deer are in bad shape. Resident Melissa Lyons raises two cattle on the levee and says that “the only things thriving are the buzzards.” She says the deer are starved and weak, and her husband recently removed 20 dead deer from their hay field. Supplemental feeding requires a wildlife agency permit that expires this fall.

Guests at the 2019 Historic Farm Days tractor pull will see some displays of new and old horsepower, thanks to Illiana Pulling Association and Illinois Tractor Pulling Association. Tractor pulls are scheduled on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
