The “Open” button is purely mechanical and is part of the handle cover assembly. It passes a plunger into the lid hinge to release the spring-loaded lid. There is a silicone gasket to keep moisture off the back of the PCB where the tact switches are. And note that Cuisinart did not try to engineer the switches themselves, like some products.
